Forbidden Music - Music From the Holocaust

The St. Joseph's College Council for the Arts and the Institute for the Study of Religion in Community Life invite you to commemorate Krystallnacht with a presentation of "Forbidden Music: Music From the Holocaust" on Sunday, November 9 at 2 p.m. The string quartet of the Long Island Philharmonic will be performing, with mezzo-soprano soloist Laila Salins. The program will present how the arts thrived at the Theresienstadt concentration camp, illustrated with performances of composers Victor Ullman, Gideon Klein, Sylvie Bodorova, and others. A moving visual arts presentation is included. Reception to follow.

July 15th: Recital at The Gold Hall of Riga's Society House (13 Merkel Street, Riga, Latvia) - Latvian premiere of Peter Aldins' "Bird Songs" cycle ("Putnu dziesmas") for mezzo-soprano, viola and piano, performed with Andra Darzins and Peter Plakidis

July 17th: Recital at the Music Academy in Ogreh, Latvia

July 17- 27: Teaching vocal master classes, chamber music and voice lessons at the Ogreh International Music Festival for Young Musicians, Ogreh, Latvia

August 28th - September 1: West Coast Latvian Song Festival in Ventura, CA:

August 29th: Solo cabaret evening
August 30th: Premiere of Andra St. Ivanyi's music theater piece, "Hotel Paradiso"
